Good News During Lockdown

Throughout the past few months good news has been difficult to find; it seems like there’s a constant stream of negativity being broadcast and maintaining a positive attitude has been challenging. As a videographer that works a lot in weddings, events, and small business, a majority of my clients have been heavily impacted and of course this hurts both them as well as my business. I’ve had to roll with the punches and find ways to stay productive and build foundation for my business as I move forward and as we eventually return to “normal”. But I made one small decision that has turned out to be a fantastic opportunity and a lot of fun and also helped get my mind off of all the bad news. I reached out to a catering company called Navi’s Catering Kitchen and asked if I could partner with them on a video highlighting the food deliveries I had seen that they were doing in their community.

So I grabbed my video gear and started filming. And watching this business work so hard to make sure their community was taken care of was heartwarming to say the least. They were providing free kids meals to those in need. They were delivering delicious dinners and lunches to first responders and nurses. The owner, Navi Mudaliar was using his wealth of connections in the food industry to get the supplies needed to sustain this venture and his incredible culinary skills to create inspired dishes for these community heroes. He told me in an interview that they had fired up their kitchen every single day since the lockdown began in Washington State. I was fortunate enough to not only get to document this process and the selflessness of Navi and his staff, but to also get to sample some of Navi’s culinary creations. It is some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. And more impressive than that is that I watched him make up his recipes on the spot on some occasions.

Navi and his staff are great examples of the good in humanity that can shine so bright during dark times. Leaders like him remind us of the good in our world when it seems good can be hard to find. Getting to use my video business and skills to bring this story and his business to light is exactly why I love working with small businesses. I love getting to tell the stories of businesses; they are always more than just money making machines. There is a heart pumping to keep the business alive and showing people the heart is what I love. Check out the highlight video from my time with Navi. And I highly recommend checking them out if you need a caterer. You won’t regret it.
